In 2022, investors favoured residential properties again most of all. Despite the significant changes of framework conditions – keywords are interest rate turnaround and introduction of stricter conditions imposed on the granting of credits – more than EUR 1.6 billion were invested in the asset class of residential properties. Therefore, the record of 2020 with an investment volume of approximately EUR 1.3 billion was exceeded again. In the comparison of federal provinces Vienna is still the clear leader in the Austrian ranking, with a share of more than 80 % and a volume of approximately EUR 1.33 billion. Styria with Graz takes the second place – however, the second important market for institutional investments in residential properties in Austria accounted for only approx. EUR 87 million.
